For this entry we are taking a look at one of Bristol’s most exciting and unique wedding venues – Circomedias beautifully restored Georgian gothic church of St. Paul is situated on Portland Square and was originally an 18th Century Parish Church complete with vaulted ceilings, stain glass windows and ornate stonework… needless to say, it’s a lovely backdrop for any event – dramatic, inspiring and full of wonderful space and light.
Perfect, you might say, for a Wedding!
Evolving from the ethos and vision of a pioneering circus school that was established in the 1980’s, Circomedia is still at the forefront of education and performance. Their approach combines creativity, physical theatre and circus skills inspiring students and performers to push boundaries and offering classes and qualifications at every level.
And it is this pool of exceptional talent that is one reason you are able to create a celebration with such exciting and unique elements at Circomedia!
Imagine it, you walk through the large outer doors of the Church just off the wide leafy city square and into the high ceilinged stone entrance where an acrobat hangs seated on a ribbon wrapped swing, gently letting loose rose petals from a basket.
Within, wide swathes of white material create a canopy above the aisle (there are other colours but I’m going with white for now) and coloured light streams in from the high windows at either side. Later, thick dark hanging drapes will close in to create the perfect party atmosphere but while it’s day the windows, framed by elaborate stonework, let light play across the open space. A beautiful setting for a ceremony!
